In a healing touch to the migrants living in Jalandhar, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today facilitated the free home going of 1200 migrants stranded in the city, as first ‘Shramik Express’  train chugged off to Daltonganj, Jharkhand at a cost of Rs 7. 12 lakh, which was being borne by the state government.The train chugged off from Jalandhar city Railway station under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. Both the officers said that it would give a big reprieve to the 1200 migrants from Jharkhand who were stranded in city.These migrants who had enrolled them on the portal of the state government were delivered SMS and called for informing them about the schedule of the train. 600 of them were brought at Balle Balle farms on Pathankot chowk, 300 at Khalsa School Nakodar road and 300 at Guru Nanak Dev University College on Nehru Garden road. After their medical screening these migrants were boarded in the 20 buses run especially by the state government to ferry these migrants to the station.Right from medical screening to boarding in train elaborate arrangements were put in place for maintaining social distancing amongst the migrants. 

A high level team of officers including Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, Additonal Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ms. Babita Kler, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurmeet Singh and Mr. Balkar Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms. D Sudharvizhi and Mr. PS Bhandal, Superintendent of Police Mr. RPS Sandhu, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Rahul Sindhu and Dr. Jai Inder Singh, Secretary RTA Mr. Barjinder Singh and others were on their toes to make foolproof arrangements for facilitation of migrants.Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that owing to strenuous efforts of Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh more such trains would be moving for Lucknow, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Sultanpur, Katni (Madhya Pradesh), Jharkhand and others.They said that the administration has already made elaborate arrangements to facilitate the movement of migrants from Jalandhar and no stone would be left unturned for this noble cause. Both the officers said that all the migrants who have registered them on government portal would be facilitated during the movement.
