Governor Bandaru Dattatraya called a meeting with Horticulture department, HPMC and APMC at the Raj Bhavan today.He said that all the concerned departments need to make extensive arrangements so that the farm activities were not affected during the lockdown. He said that apple crop plays important role in the economy of the state and in such situation, availability of labour, carton and purchase material should be ensured to orchardists. He suggested that the markets should be decentralized which would benefit the farmers. Also, transport subsidy could also be considered in the interest of farmers.Secretary, Horticulture and Food & Supplies Amitabh Awasthi briefed about all facilities and steps taken by the line departments during the lockdown. He suggested a normal marketing model and said that the department was in regular touch with the producers of carton box and all arrangements were being made in providing purchasing material.Secretary to the Governor, Rakesh Kanwar, Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Products Marketing and Processing Corporation Debasweta Banik and other officials were also present on the occasion.
