District Administration Udhampur ramped up several efforts to contain the spread of Noval Corona virus COVID-19 disease in the district In order to avoid the gathering and people contact at grocery stores while collecting essential items by the consumers, the district administration started a special arrangement “Ration on wheel” initiative for home delivery/ distribution of ration to the people of the district.Under this initiative, ration is distributed by Government stores at doorsteps following all precautionary measures. District Administration has roped in 100 volunteers of various organizations like REKs, BS&Gs, NSS, Civil volunteers and staff from different departments for delivery purpose.Ration dealers have been provided special carts besides autos are authorized to make wards wise delivery of fruit/vegetables in consultation with councilors of concerned ward.District Administration has also initiated many other efforts to contain the spread of Noval Corona virus in the district.For the convenience of general public, the district administration gives relaxation from 8AM to 12 Noon for purchase of essential items.Labour department has transferred Rs 1000/ labourer in accounts of 4144 registered labourers. Contractors/employers/landlords have been asked to provide all help to stranded labourers.
The District Administration is also running community kitchens to provide cooked food to needy, migrant labourers, destitute and stranded truck drivers. Over 5000 meals are cooked, packed and distributed daily among the poor and needy at different locations.The Udhampur Administration has also established 24x7 control room, 01992-272727, 272728 besides doctor helpline number 94192-16042 is running round the clock in the district for any query. The quarantine centers with a capacity of more than 1300 beds, Emergency response measurement, different hotels are utilized as quarantine centre.All major steps have been taken by District Administration regarding precautionary measures for COVID-19, including surveillance, infection prevention and control, implementation of containment plan for screening at entry points, contact tracing of suspected cases, quarantine and management of isolation facilities.District Police has started a unique initiative for helping of old age people to provide home delivery of essentials goods at their door steps with the help of police volunteers and established helpline number 01992-276915 and 9622202223.Information Department updates the media persons by posting latest updates in the Whatsapp group and facebook page run by Information Department Udhampur wherein all media persons of the district are getting updates besides media persons are authorized to move for ground reporting.Many designated officers have been deployed at different location to maintain proper lock down round the clock.
