The valedictory function of two weeks Workshop on ‘Constructivist Approach and its Application to Instructional Design Preparation under centre of learning and pedagogic study, school of education under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) scheme, MHRD, was held at Department of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University.The chief guest of the valedictory session was Prof. Manoj Kumar, controller examination , GNDU, Amritsar. Prof Kumar highlighted the importance of the role played by a teacher in the life of a student. He emphasized that it is essential for teachers to learn so as to make the students aware of the global developments. Prof. Manoj while making reference to his own experiences inspired the participants to accept the ideas of their students and encouraged them to ask questions.The function started with the welcome speech of Prof. Amit Kauts, Project Coordinator, school of Education. While welcoming the chief guest, Prof. Kauts shared how a paradigm shift in the role of a teacher has taken place from authoritative to democratic facilitate. Prof. Kauts also mentioned the challenge before the teaching community i.e to create a learning environment where the learners are active by using learner oriented learning techniques. Prof Kauts also encouraged and motivated the participants to bring innovations in teaching learning process and stressed that there is a dire need for school teachers to experience such platform to find out solution with some pedagogical implication while dealing with teaching learning process.Dr. Deepa Sikand , Head , Department of Education summed up the workshop by giving very important suggestion to the participants to actively engage the learner through cooperative learning, investigative approach, social inquiry and team building based pedagogy. She expressed her firm belief that through the learning from this workshop the participants will be able to find the solution to problems to bring about positive changes for sustainable future. She suggested the teachers to implement the ideas and practices learnt during the workshop in their respective institutions. She highlighted that the participants were responsive to the resource personS and cooperated in all the activities and aspects of the workshop.The workshop was attended by 22 participants from various universities and colleges of India. The participants also shared their perceptions that how workshop helped them in understanding constructivist approach and its application to instructional design preparation. They expressed their delight and also their feedback about the session conducted during workshop.
