District Development (DDC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today chaired a meeting with the concerned officials to discuss scientific inputs and techniques for ensuring quality and protection of soil.The meeting was attended by ADC, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Chief Agriculture Officer besides all registered pesticide dealers of the district.During the meeting pesticide dealers gave their valuable inputs regarding the scientific inputs and techniques to be employed to ensure quality and protection of soil besides long fruitful life of orchards. The inputs given were discussed threadbare.The Chief Agriculture Officers briefed the meeting about the steps taken by the department for ensuring quality and protection of soil.He said that the initiative taken by the department include Soil Analysis, awareness camps, establishment of Vermi Compost Pits, Check Dam construction to stop soil erosion, retaining walls besides incorporation of green manures and integrated approach in application of organic and chemical fertilizers.The DDC urged the Chief Agriculture Officer to organize the awareness camps at village level so that information regarding the scientific inputs and techniques reach to the ground level. He also exhorted for urging the farmers to use green manures and bio fertilizers in the orchards.Earlier, DDC chaired a meeting with the revenue officials to discuss the issues pertaining to Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road. The meeting was attended by ADC, ACR, SDM Kangan and other concerned official.
