One of the biggest livestock  extravaganza in the region, 11th National Livestock Championship and Agro Expo-2020 started with a great pomp and show as the Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa inaugurated the event at PUDA ground Batala, the historical town of the state on Thursday.The Cabinet Minister was accompanied by Secretary Raj Kamal Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ishfaq, Director Animal Husbandry Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Dr Amarjeet Singh Nanda, SSP Mr Opinderjeet Singh Ghumman, District Planning Committee Chairman Dr Satnam Singh Nijjar, Former Rajya Sabha MP Bhupinder Singh Mann, Dr Parkash Singh, NABARD Chief General Manager GPS Bindra, SDM Batala Balwinder Singh, Deputy Director Dr Sham Singh, Dr Sarbjeet Singh Randhawa, Dr Satbir Singh Bajwa and others were present.Speaking after inauguration of the Championship, The Cabinet Minister said that Punjab Government is committed to enhance the income of the farmers and has been promoting livestock farming among them.He said that  it is a profitable business along with traditional farming and will strengthen the economic condition of the farmers. He said that the state government has been providing free training to the farmers especially youths and exhorted them to adopt the livestock for huge revenues. 

The Minister added that this championship would prove a milestone for the livestock farmers and asserted that the framers would acquire valuable information regarding the livestock. He said that during this national level livestock championship, livestock breeding and milching competitions would be held. In addition competition among various breeds of horses, buffaloes, cows, sheep, goats, dogs and chickens would also be held and attractive prizes worth Ra 2 crore would be given to the owners of the winning animals.Secretary Raj Kamal Chaudhary said that this championship is being held first time in Majha region and will help the livestock farmers a lot. He said that the national level experts would participate in the seminars which would  benficial information to the farmers for making fisheries, piggery, fishery and goat farming a profitable business. Director Dr Inderjeet Singh detailed about the various programs of the government during the event . Vice-Chancellor Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Dr Amarjeet Singh told that dairy farming is one of most profitable business as there is huge demand of milk in the society. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ishfaq told that District Administration is committed to ensure implement the schemes in true and spirit.
