Justice Magray for speedy disposal of backlog cases of more than 10 years

Justice Ali Mohammad Magray, Judge, J&K High Court, today visited District Court Complex Srinagar and asked the judicial officials to clear the backlog of more than 10 years and treat the matter as a top priority.He impressed upon the judicial officers posted at district headquarters Srinagar to dispose the old cases in speedy manner on a weekly basis.Justice Magray asked the officials to send progress reports regularly so that proper records are maintained regarding the cases. He emphasized upon the judges to adopt information technology particularly in the criminal justice system and asked the officials to make use of video conferencing invariably to reach out to undertrials.While highlighting the duties of judicial officers, he said that the standard of judicial conduct of judicial officers has to be very high in order to encourage the confidence of litigant public. He stressed upon the fact that in case any officer faces any problem while dealing with the cases on judicial front, the matter should be brought to his notice immediately.Justice Magray also interacted with the judges individually and also received firsthand information regarding the pendency and disposal of cases. He said that he expects every judicial officer to work with dedication and impartiality so that the faith of people in the judicial system is reinforced.On his arrival, Justice Magray was received by Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar Abdul Rashid Malik. He briefed Justice Magray about the works being taken up by district judiciary at district headquarters and steps taken by the judges for the quick disposal of old civil and criminal cases.
