Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Kailash Choudhary today asked the Agriculture research scientists to facilitate farmers to double their income by taking technology from Lab to Land. Kailash Choudhary was interacting with Agriculture experts and scientists during his visit   to Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-   Jammu (SKUAST-J).He visited campuses of Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, R. S. Pura and Faculty of Agriculture, Chatha.Kailash Choudhary laid emphasis on taking technology from lab to land, diversification through integrating farming system and impact analysis of the programmes conducted by the Krishi Vigyan Kendras.He was briefed about the history and work of SKUAST-Jammu by the Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. K. S. Risam.Later, the union Minster along with the Vice Chancellor, visited Integrated Farming System, Technology Park, School of Biotechnology, and Beekeeping Units of the University at Chatha.At Chatha, he interacted with the university faculty including Deans, Directors, Estate Officer, Registrar, University Librarian and Controller Examination.Seeking details of ongoing research work in the Varsity, he noted that the University and Department of Agriculture are the facilitators for doubling the farmers’ income, thereby realizing the cherished dream of Prime Minister, Narinder Modi. He reiterated the commitment of   the central government for providing full support to agriculture sector to make farming a profitable occupation.“We have to make farming a remunerative enterprise through diversification and switching over to horticulture crops and at the same time give a boost to live stock industry,” he advised the stakeholders.Vice Chancellor Dr. K. S. Risam, thanked the minister for his visit to the university and pleaded for the expansion of the university by adding more colleges/faculties.
