Under Prime Minister's initiative to reach out to people of Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation & Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal today inaugurated a tubewell and lane drain protection wall at Birpur, Khada, Mandana Sambha where he also interacted with public and listened to their developmental needs.The Minister was accompanied by Advisor K K Sharma and other officials during the public outreach programme. The Minister said that the government is committed to ensure all round development to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the current visit is part of the initiative to take efficient governance to the doorsteps of people.He said that a new era of development will start in J&K and any developmental lacunae and funds shortage will be addressed at priority. The Minister said that a number of industrialists are desirous of setting up industries in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that new investments will be made in the industrial sector which will create new avenues of employment and opportunities of development. He said that entire Jammu and Kashmir will usher into a new era of development. He said that central government schemes will be rigorously implemented to aid the speedy development, besides funds are being earmarked for the developmental projects and all languishing projects in particular will be completed at the earliest.The Minister also met people and listened to their grievances. The Minister also announced that JK Cements will be revived soon. Regarding the housing sector, the Minister announced that by 2022 all people without houses will get dwelling units.The minister later reviewed the functioning of JK Cements and functioning of the cement factories of Samba and Khrew.  MD JK industries gave a brief about the problems being faced and the interventions needed for making cement factories profit generating units.
