District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, today chaired a meeting of officers to review functioning, progress and achievements registered under agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and allied sectors in the district.The meeting was attended by, ADDC, ADC, JD-Planning, CHO, CAO, CAHO, AD fisheries and other officers.The meeting was informed that 1.57 lac sheep population produced 2.94 lakh kgs wool while 23 thousand kgs of cocoons production was also recorded in the district during current fiscal, generating revenue of Rupees65 lakh.The district has also produced 19 tons fish generating revenue of over Rupees one crore while 40 fish units are stocked with 1 lakh Rainbow trout seed. The milk production has crossed 162 thousand ton mark while 13 million eggs have been produced in the district during this period.The meeting was further informed that under PM-SYM Rs 16.61 crore were disbursed   among 41524 Beneficiaries through DBT mode. The DDC also reviewed the pace and progress of various developmental projects of agri and allied sectors being executed in the district under various schemes.The DDC urged the people to adopt latest techniques, innovations for better crop productivity.
