Director General (DG) Social Welfare Department Kashmir, Rukhsana Gani today visited Budgam to review social welfare schemes including widow pension scheme, NOAPs, PCP and disabled pension scheme being implemented in the district.The DG was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganaie.During the meeting DG was informed that 2270 cases under NSAP and ISSSP have been weeded out while as 8153 pre-metric and 7623 post-metric fresh scholarship cases were sanctioned during the current Fiscal.The DG urged the concerned to ensure massive publicity of schemes through print and electronic media and conduct regular awareness programmes across the district. She said that languishing projects of the department including OBC Girls Hostel at Char-e-shareef shall be taken with the relevant quarters for early completion.She was informed that 814 women beneficiaries have received assistance under State Marriage Assistance Scheme in the district.The DG also reviewed HUNAR and AASRA schemes and directed the concerned to ensure smooth implementation of the schemes in the district.Later the DG also visited orphanage homes at Chadoora and Khansahab and interacted with the children there.The DG also interacted with staff members posted at Training centers running crafts and knitting courses.
