Punjab Rural Development & Panchayats, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Dairy Development Minister Mr Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today said that the Punjab government is committed to provide urban like facilities to the residents of rural areas so that the migration of people from rural areas to urban can be checked. He also said that there is no shortage of funds when it comes to carrying out overall development of all rural areas of the state. He also urged the elected representatives such as sarpanches, block samiti members and zila parishad members to ensure that all development works are being carried out with honesty and all funds are being utilised properly.Mr Bajwa said this at a function in which Khanna Block Samiti Chairman Mr Satnam Singh Soni and vice chairperson Mrs Manjit Kaur assumed office, at BDPO Office, Khanna today.Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh, MLAs Mr Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Mr Lakhbir Singh Lakha, Mr Kuljit Singh Nagra and Mr Gurpreet Singh GP, also addressed the gathering. On this occasion, Mr Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa also announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for Block Samiti Khanna, while Dr Amar Singh announced a grant of Rs 50 lakh for carrying out development of Khanna constituency.While speaking on the occasion, Khanna MLA Mr Gurkirat Singh Kotli said that for the betterment of residents, work on 10 sports parks is underway in Khanna constituency and that it would help people from all walks of life. He also thanked the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government for issuing a grant of Rs 200 crore for the development of Khanna constituency.

Dr Amar Singh said that grant of Rs 55 lakh for Khanna constituency was issued earlier and an additional Rs 50 lakh would be issued now. He assured that there is no shortage of funds for development works.While urging the panchayats to understand their own responsibilities, Cabinet Minister Mr Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said that they should assist the Punjab government for carrying out development of the state. He said that former Chief Minister Mr Beant Singh had worked hard and started his political career as Chairman, Block Samiiti Doraha and rose to become Chief Minister of Punjab. “Even I started my career from Market Committee. Youth are coming forward and should understand their responsibilities. We train sarpanches by organising special trainings so that they can avail full benefits of government schemes because development of any area starts from a sarpanch. MGNREGA is a gold mine and there is no shortage of funds and sarpanches should take full advantage of it,” he said while urging the sarpanches that they should attend two-day trainings so that they are able to get development carried out in their respective villages.He said that grant amounting to Rs 24 crore has already been granted to district Ludhiana and Rs 6.5 crore to district Fatehgarh Sahib. Once the Utilisation Certificates of these works are received, grant of equal amount would be issued again. He urged that the funds provided by government should be spent honestly.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Former minister Tej Parkash Singh Kotli, Mr Vikas Mehta Nagar council president Khanna, Mr Yadwinder Singh Jandiali chairman Zila Parishad, besides several others.
