Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today called for vibrant campaigns to make consumers aware about their rights, responsibilities and protection in times of new market innovations and trends.He was speaking at the valedictory session of a two-day workshop titled ‘Consumer Protection and Consumer Welfare’ organized by Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), J&K Regional Branch.The workshop was organized in collaboration with Centre for Consumer Studies, Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi and sponsored by Department of Consumer Affairs, Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.The Advisor said there is a need of more push in the area for larger interest of the people so as to take the actual message to consumers who remain devoid of any information about their rights. He added that the spreading awareness by the concerned departments needs sustained and  focused attention due to market innovations and new trends.The two-day workshop had various sessions for the 130 participants from several allied and line departments mainly associated with consumer rights, quality and quantity check and drug control etc.The focus areas remained consumer rights, their protection, welfare besides cyber security and consumer and Consumer Protection Act 2019 which will be notified and implemented shortly across the country.The valedictory session was also addressed by Secretary Food and Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, PK Pole; Patron IIPA, J&K Branch, Dr Ashok Bhan; Coordinator IIPA, New Delhi, Suresh Misra; Director Seminars IIPA J&K, Alka Sharma and Er JBS Johar.
