ICDS Project, Gandhi Nagar today organized an awareness program under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign at Auditorium Hall of Government Polytechnic College, Bikram  Chowk, Jammu today.Deputy Director, ICDS Projects, Jammu, Atul Kumar Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion whereas Programme Officer, ICDS, Jammu, Natasha  Kalsotra was the guest of honour.Chairman, Health and Sanitation, Jammu Municipal Corporation,  Baldev Baloria and the Councillors from Ward No. 19, 22, 23, 45 , 46, 55, 56  and 58, Child Development Project Officer, Gourav Gupta, staff members of the concerned department, anganwadi workers and student were present on the occasion.Speaking  about the alarming issue of declining sex-ratio, Deputy Director, ICDS Projects said that the society as a whole has to come together to end this scourge so as to empower the  girls and give them their due share in all walks of life. He said that women are leading the way in all walks of life and that the old mindset regarding the birth of a girl child has to  be shed.Anganwadi workers and artist from Information Department presented short plays and songs which were focused on the need of saving girl child and the issue of  declining sex-ratio in the state. Musical. During the program, ICDS Project, Gandhi Nagar distributed Ladli Beti Passbooks and Ladli Beti Address plates where as Health  Department distributed Baby Care Kits.A debate competition on the topic “Punitive Laws are the only way to stop the declining sex Ratio” was also organized in which children of  class IX-XII from various schools participated and Savalya of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar was adjudged as the best speaker.Ruchika Singh from  Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar and Muskan from Government High School, Pull Tawi were felicitated for excelling in the field of Thai-Boxing and  Hockey respectively at National Level.
