J&K Red Cross Society in collaboration with regional Red Cross Society Kashmir celebrated International Volunteers Day here today.The main function was held in DC office complex Srinagar which was inaugurated by DDC Srinagar, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary, while district officers, Red Cross workers and Volunteers from various districts also participated.Speaking on the occasion, DDC highlighted the role of volunteers in redering selfless service to the people at the time of need and during disasters.He urged the volunteers to work with devotion in delivering humanitarian aid without any discrimination.On the occasion, two books namely economic development and decentralized planning in Jammu and Kashmir and overview of poverty in Jammu and Kashmir written by former director general and statistics J&K G.A Qureshi were released.ADC Srinagar, Hanief Balki and Honarary Secretary Regional Red Cross Kashmir, Rafiq Matto also spoke on the occasion.
