The Higher Education and Languages Minister,Punjab Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today released the 9th edition of the Mahan Kosh, which gives detailed information on the solidarity of Sikh religion and history which was prepared by world renowned Sikh scholar Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha in the last century.In addition to this Mr. Bajwa also released three books - Sultanpur Lodhi, 'Batala' and 'Dera Baba Nanak' published by the language department on the occasion of 550th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He appreciated the department's good efforts and encouraged them to continue such work in the future.Briefing about the Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha's Mahan Kosh, Mrs. Karamjit Kaur Director, Punjab Language Department said that Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha's Mahan Kosh is one of the most important publications published by the Language Department and is always demanded more than other publications. In the view of this, the Department of Languages ??Punjab has published the 9th edition of Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha's Mahan Kosh.She further said that the main reason for this is that the department has not made any alteration or made any changes in this important Kosh. 'This was prepared by Bhai Kahn Singh Nahba spending 15 years on this project and in the year 1930 the then King of Princely Estate of Patiala Maharja Bhupinder Singh got published the first edition of this at a cost of Rs 51,000.The director stated that one of the major reasons for the demand of this Mahan Kosh published by the Language Department is that its sale price is just Rs 500 which is very low as compared to other private publications.The Director Languages also informed the Minister that in addition to this the department is publishing books related to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's life and philosophy. At the same time, about 55 books related to important historical, geographical, religious and cultural sites of Punjab are ready for publication.Prominent among others Gurdarshan Singh Bahia OSD to Minister, Dr. Virpal Kaur Deputy Director, Dr. Satnam Singh, Deputy Director, Mrs. Pritpal Kaur Assistant Director, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur Assistant Director, Dr. Harnek Singh Assistant Director, Satnam Singh Assistant Director, Mrs. Kanwaljit Kaur Assistant Director, Mr. Praveen Kumar Research Officer and other officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
