The public outreach ‘Back to Village’ Phase-II (B2V2) reached to 41 Panchayat Halqas today in the district during—which designated officers visited their allotted panchayats and assessed the development needs of rural areas.The day three of the programme witnessed multi-pronged events and activities as part of the mega launch of B2V2. The events included Government-public interactions, awareness programmes on welfare schemes, convening of Gram Sabhas, public grievances redressal camps besides seeking public suggestions and feedback.Secretary Industries and Commerce, M.M Rehman Ghasi visited Panchayat Halqa Nunnar as visiting officer and chaired a meeting with the officials of the line departments.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba, CPO, Tehsildar Ganderbal besides Panchs and Sarpanch of the Panchayat.The Secretary stressed on the officials to reach out to the people and make them aware about various government welfare schemes. He said that these schemes were aimed at changing the socio-economic conditions of people, especially of those, living in far-flung areas.On the occasion, local representatives raised several developmental and other issues which include under-construction building of PHC Nunnar, Office space for Sheep and Animal Husbandry, encroachments, Fire Station for the area besides augmentation of drinking water supply.On the occasion, the Secretary said that the programme is an initiative to provide governance at the doorsteps of the people. He said that the initiative is aimed to enlist community participation in decision making.Later, the Secretary also visited various stalls of the Horticulture department and Mutation Camp organized in the area. He urged the concerned to create awareness among the people visiting these stalls about the latest technologies and high yielding plants available with the department.Meanwhile, DC Ganderbal visited various Panchayat Halqas to oversee various programmes organized in connection with the third day of the programme.
