Principal Secretary, Animal, Sheep and Fisheries Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today visited Nesbal Panchayat in Sonawari and interacted with the public during the ongoing Back to Village Programme-which started in 50 other Panchayat halqas of the Bandipora district.He along with the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza and Director Animal Husbandry reviewed the status of works approved in first phase of Back to Village Program.Dr Samoon inaugurated a Health and Wellness Centre at Nesbal and also distributed cheques worth Rs 1.24 lakh as education assistance to the labours of the Nesbal Panchayat.The officers distributed school bags and books among students and sports kits among youth of the village. Dr Samoon also provided a Paddy Crusher to the Nesbal Panchayat for the benefit of the farmers.Addressing the participants of the B2V2, Dr Samoon said the outreach programme involves the people of the state and the government officials in a joint effort to deliver the mission of equitable development across all rural areas.While stressing on implementing the programme in letter and spirit, Dr Samoon said the programme is primarily aimed at energizing the Panchayats and directing development efforts of rural areas through community participation.Later Dr Samoon and DC Bandipora laid foundation stone of a playground in Nesbal being constructed at the cost of Rs 10.00 lakh under MGNREGA and 14th FC. The demand was raised by the people during the Back to Village programme. Dr Samoon also visited local veterinary dispensary and launched vaccination drive against Foot and Mouth disease.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said B2V2 program is an ambitious program of the government and the district administration has taken this initiative in mission mode. He lauded the role of officers played for the successful conduct of first phase.During the day long activities, officers of different departments informed the audience about several welfare and employment generation schemes and urged them to avail benefit of these schemes. The Visiting Officers got scheme-wise list of individuals who are desirous of accessing individual beneficiary oriented schemes but have not applied so far. They also collected feedback about implementation of different schemes especially with regard to non-sanctioning of benefits under individual beneficiary oriented schemes.Under the chairmanship of the visiting officers, Bio-diversity Management Committees were also formed and Sarpanch and Panchs were assigned several duties with regard to the implementation of several activities under Bio-diversity project.In the evening the visiting officers also held an informal interaction with PRI representatives, frontline government functionaries and prominent citizens to discuss and deliberate upon the core problems and issues faced by the locals and deliberated upon the possible solutions to increase rural incomes and energize village and micro industries.
