Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today exhorted the people to follow the path shown by Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar for carving out a vibrant, harmonious and united India.Presiding over a function here at the Dr Ambedkar Bhawan to mark the National Constitution Day today, the Deputy Commissioner said that in the form of Indian Constitution Dr Ambedkar has given a state of the art Rule of book to the country on this day in 1949, which was till now playing a key role in ensuring socio-economic growth of the country. He said that this was a one of its kind rule book which envisages equal right for one and all irrespective of their caste, color, creed and sex. Mr Sharma said that the Constitution has played an important role not only safeguarding the rights of the people but also in making India a progressive and powerful nation.The Deputy Commissioner said that the Indian Constitution was the result of Dr.Ambedkar’s hard work, dedication and farsightedness adding that Babasaheb was not the only leader of weaker sections but he was the leader of the entire humanity. Describing Dr Ambedkar as a great scholar, jurist, economist, social reformer and a statesman, Mr Sharma said that he was one of the most towering personalities in the entire world history. He said that though Dr Ambedkar hailed from a humble family but his outstanding contribution has brought him in the league of global leaders.The Deputy Commissioner said that Dr Ambedkar was also a true votary of empowerment of women and he had taken several path-breaking initiatives for safeguarding the interests of women. Exhorting the people to follow the path shown by Dr Ambedkar, he said that it would be the real tribute to this great son of the soil.  Mr Sharma said that all of us should make dedicated efforts for carving out an egalitarian society for securing justice and equality for all the sections of society rising above the petty considerations of caste, colour and creed.In their address Additional Deputy Commissioners, Mr Kulwant Singh and Mr Jasbir Singh also paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar. On the occasion, District Guidance Counselor Mr Surjit Lal, District Welfare Officer Mr Rajinder Singh, Tehsil Welfare Officer Ms Sarabjit Kaur, Mr Ashok Sahota, Prof GC Kaul and others were also present.
