Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today directed the Deputy Commissioners of border districts to take strict action against the engineers showing slackness in the construction of bunkers.While chairing a meeting of Deputy Commissioners of border areas here today, the Divisional Commissioner underlined the need for expeditious completion of bunkers along the LoC and International Border in Jammu division. The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com about the progress of works on under construction individual and community bunkers in their respective districts. It was informed that a total of 4852 bunkers have been completed so far in the division including 4478 individual and 374 community bunkers.It was informed that 1093 community and individual bunkers have been completed in Samba, 899 in district Jammu, 1131 in district Kathua, 1473 in district Rajouri and 256 in district Poonch. They further informed that remaining bunkers are also at different stages of construction. The concerned officers informed about the number of bunkers at foundation level, superstructure level and slab level.The Div Com directed the DCs to regularly monitor the progress of bunkers to achieve the timely targets.The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Planning, Chaman Lal, Chief Planning Officers, Jammu, Joginder Katoch besides executive engineers of executing agencies, while Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch along with concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
