In order to take care of the stray animals in the Municipal Limit, the Government today proposed to strengthen the Municipal Veterinary Wing which will ensure healthcare of the animals. It has been decided to augment Municipal Veterinary Centre with Ultra sound and Portable X-Ray machine, strengthen   Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme and to identify separate land for   establishing a unit for stray animals (large and small) for treatment and care. The existing Veterinary Hospital will be strengthen with adequate Technical Staff and necessary equipments and medicines etc. The government has also decided to implement the transportation rule for animals in letter and spirit and provide ambulance for large Animals.These decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Transportation, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon here at Municipal Centre Roop Nagar Jammu.The meeting was attended by senior functionaries of  Directorate of Animal Husbandry Department Jammu, Municipal Veterinary Officer and representatives of non-governmental organizations working for the protection and welfare of animals. Later the Principal Secretary also visited Gowshalla Ambphalla Jammu and discussed the problems and requirements of the Gowshalla in presence of Director Animal Husbandry Jammu. He assured to provide necessary technical support of the Department to the Gowshalla. He handed over a booklet containing Breeding Policy of the Department and Medicines, Dewormer, Mineral and Vitamin supplements to boost the productivity and potential of the Livestock stationed there.Principal Secretary also introduced the Sahiwal Breed Germ Plasma for the breeding purpose to propagate the indigenous cow breed of proven pedigree.
