Director Agriculture Kashmir Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi today convened a meeting to review physical and financial progress under capex budget upto ending October 2019.The meeting reviewed the physical achievements under centrally sponsored schemes, progress regarding formation of farmers produce organizations (FPO), progress on implementation of Kissan Credit cards, status regarding PM-Kissan, and MAAN-DAN (PM-KMY) Schemes.The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Extension Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhary, Joint Director Agriculture Inputs Deepak Kumar Kuchroo, Chief Agriculture Officers, Divisional heads, and other concerned officers of the department.While deliberating on various issues, Director Agriculture impressed upon the officers to visit the fields and advise farmers with regard to different preventive measures and modification in the agriculture practices. He instructed the officers to issue advisories regarding the crops at the doorsteps of farming community as per the local requirement.He further said that the efforts are being made to save the crop losses from natural calamities and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, a weather-based crop insurance scheme is being implemented soon. He added that notification for the implementation of the scheme has already been issued by the department.The Director directed, Dy. Director Law Enforcement to keep vigil against the dealers who are found selling Oats at exorbitant rates and initiate strict action against erring dealers under the law.He instructed Chief Agriculture Officers to provide all assistance to the vegetable growers of valley to export their produce to the local as well as national markets.  He also stressed for framing Farm Produce Organizations (FPOs) in all the district to facilitate better production and marketing of agriculture products.The meeting also discussed the achievements registered under Kissan Credit and Soil Health Cards schemes in Kashmir.
