With Diwali festival is round the corner, Moga MLA Dr Harjot Kamal on Tuesday, kicked off a five-day-long cleanliness campaign to make the all the 50 wards of the city dirt and garbage free.MLA Dr Harjot Kamal accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC General) Anita Darshi and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Moga Narinder Singh Dhaliwal started the campaign from Ward number-1.“Before kicking off this cleanliness campaign, I want to urge the local residents that they should keep their surroundings clean and dispose-off the waste in dustbins or designated dumps that the city will remain clean,” said MLA while addressing the gathering.He also appealed the public to minimise the use of the plastic as it is not only dangerous for the environment but also very harmful for the health all the living beings because of its non-decomposing nature.ADC Anita Darshi, who is also holding the charge of Commissioner Municipal Corporation informed the public that under this campaign, sweepers have been given the target to cover 18 wards each day that the city could be cleaned before the Diwali festival.She said that they have deployed Sanitary Inspector for each ward, who will supervise the cleanliness work and ensure that every nook of the city has been cleaned. She also assured the gathering and Moga residents to solve every problem on a priority basis.On the occasion, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Paramjit Singh Sandhu, Congress leader Gurinder Singh Gugu and NGO Davinderpal Singh Rimpy among others were present.
