DARPG team calls on Advisor Skandan in Srinagar

A team of Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, today called on Advisor to Governor, K Skandan to discuss arrangements made for two-day conference on Disaster Management scheduled to be held from November 30, 2019.The team stressed on ensuring fool proof arrangements for making the conference a grand success.The two-day conference will be held in Jammu where experts on disaster management from different parts of the country are expected to participate.The visiting team was led by Joint Secretary, DARPG, V Shashank Shekhar and also included Director DARPG, Alpana Shukla Rao, Deputy Secretary, Prisca Methew and Deputy Secretary Ajit Kumar Sah as members.The Advisor sought DARPG’s cooperation and assistance for the upcoming event while selecting the experts who would speak on the myriad topic of disaster management during the conference and educate the participants about latest techniques in pre and post-disaster scenario.Advisor Skandan also asked the visiting team to look at the appropriate themes and to make a tentative list of experts and select the topics which would have focus on J&K. The team was also asked to invite other institutes, besides NDMA in the conference so that several issues would come up and be discussed during the conference.The visiting team briefed the Advisor about their tour and listed their inputs about the Public Hearing System in J&K for redressal of grievances.The Advisor asked the team to analyze the people’s issues and grievances besides demands so that schemes and policies would be formulated accordingly, adding that there is a scope for further improvement in the public grievance mechanism in order to make it more vibrant and accessible to people.The team informed the Advisor that the department is planning to contact several Self Help Groups and NGOs to get feedback from them on various people’s issues.
