To sensitize masses regarding the importance of girl child, a daylong awareness programme was organised at mini secretariat Bandipora to celebrate international Girl Child Day, 2019.The programme was organised by District Administration as per district Action Plan, 2019-20 of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP).The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Chief Education Officer Bandipora Javeed Ahmad, District Information Officer Bandipora Jahangeer Akhoon, Girl students from various educational institutions of the district, female  employees of various departments besides girls who have recently qualified various National and state level competitive examinations.On the occasion District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza said that female folk must realise their importance and role in society. He said, the girls who have achieved success in various fields of life must act as ambassadors to guide other girls to utilise their potential in a proper way.Mirza said, girls are important stakeholders of society and it is our collective responsibility to take care of girl child for the empowerment of women. A Woman plays a key role in harmonising and strengthening social relations and  bonds. He said that we should adopt multipronged strategies for upliftment of women folk.While speaking on the occasion the ADC Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir highlighted the objectives of programme and said we must encourage girls for socio, economic and political development of society.The Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Mohammad Iqbal Akhoon also spoke on the occasion. On the occasion Chief Education Officer Bandipora said that making girls literate is not enough but overall development is essential. He said we must encourage girls to compete in every field.Technical Officer Sheep Husbandry, Dr. Nuzhat Wali, Shahista Nazir who recently qualified KAS (Judicial), Coordinator Women committee BBBP also shared their knowledge and views regarding the theme of the programme.Later the qualifiers of various examinations were felicitated by the District administration with commendation certificates and cash rewards.
