Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today chaired a meeting with senior officers of Forest Department to discuss various measures to be adopted to make the Jammu & Kashmir State Forest Corporation (JKSFC) more vibrant in its functioning.The meeting was attended by PCCF J&K Mohit Ghera, MD JKSFC Vasu Yadav, Director Social Forestry Madhu Ghera, Chief Wildlife Warden Suresh Gupta, CEO Campa S Rai, CCF Kashmir Farooq Jeelani, CEO JKSMPB T Rabi Kumar and other senior officers.The meeting was also attended by R K Upadhyay who headed the Forest Force of Tamil Nadu and is National Expert on Forest Policy and Law. On the recommendations of Advisor K Vijay Kumar, the State Forest Department had requested Mr. Upadhyay to visit the State and share his expertise on the subject.During the meeting, PCCF J&K  made a detailed presentation on the points that emerged out of the brainstorming session that was attended by Mr. R K Upadhyay and senior officers of Forest Department.Mr. R K Upadhyay earlier held a session with senior concerned officers to discuss the functioning of JKSFC and to have better understanding of its activities. After having thorough discussions, important inputs/suggestions emerged out of the session which further need to be discussed at appropriate level to adopt them to improve the functioning of JKSFC.These key inputs includes increasing revenue, cost cutting measures, diversification of activities, addressing policy issues, exploring scientific management of forests based on working plan prescriptions in view of various Supreme Court orders, effective utilization of Human resources and registering SFC under the Companies Act.The meeting held detailed discussions on every single point with its relevance with the subject. Mr. R K Upadhyay briefed the Advisor about the steps to be taken to bring positive changes in the functioning of JKSFC.Addressing the participants, the Advisor asked senior officers of Forest Department to get benefited from the expertise of Mr R K Upadhyay who has done a lot in the field of Forests and brought tremendous changes in the working of Tamil Nadu Forest Department during his long and successful career.
