With a pledge to eliminate anaemia, malnutrition and other health-related problems amongst lactating mothers, pregnant women, children and girls by creating awareness among them, the district administration organised a cycle rally here on Sunday.Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans, who flagged-off the Cycle Rally also participated and paddled down for over eight kilometres during the rally which was commenced from New Grain Market here. The cycle rally was organised under the aegis of Poshan Abhiyaan campaign.Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner said that it is need of the hour to eliminate problems such as anaemia and malnutrition from our society.He said this rally would disseminate the message of daily physical exercise, morning and evening walk, healthy food habits, daily intake of fruits, drinking clean water, hand-wash before eating, maintaining clean surroundings etc in every household of the district. He also advised people to avoid junk food as such food items are not good for the health.He said that where the Punjab Government has not been leaving any stone unturned to wipe out malnutrition and anaemia, strenuous efforts also need to be made from the people and NGOs for generating maximum awareness against these problems.Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Moga Narinder Singh Dhaliwal, District Programme Officer (DPO) Moga Gurcharan Singh, District Social Security Officer (DSSO) Rajkiran Kaur and Chairperson Aggrawal Women Cell Bhawna Bansal among other prominent persons have also participated in this rally.
