Deputy Commissioner Mansa  Apneet Riyait today flagged off the anemia testing van under Poshan Abhiyaan to conduct free blood samples testing for anemia and sugar in villages. Besides conducting free tests for anemia and sugar, free X ray and blood pressure checking is also conducted in this mobile van.The Deputy Commissioner Mrs Apneet Riyait got herself tested for hemoglobin level in blood at the mobile testing laboratory. She said that the van was being run by the department of health providing free services in villages. In the month of August total 6173 people were examined at this mobile testing lab of which 3313 included men and 2860 women. She added that the data of villages regarding anemic, high blood pressure, problems detected in x ray is shared with the concerned health authorities at village level who further provide treatment to the concerned patients.The air conditioned mobile van has an X ray room, lab for testing blood, record room and a small toilet. It also has seating capacity of upto 5 people at a time while others can wait outside. It is manned by six employees of health department including doctor, nurse, lab technician, pharmacist, driver and a cleaner. On Sep 27 the van will visit village Kot Lallu, on Sep 28 at village Dalel Singh Wala and on Sep 30 at village Moolan Singh Wala. Further schedule for month of October will be issued soon. She called upon people to draw maximum benefit of the van visiting their villages for better health. District Program officer Avinash Kaur Walia was also present.
