Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, today conducted an extensive tour of Kot Bhalwal Block of district Jammu and held Gram Sabha at panchayat Mathawar to assess grievances of the people there.The Div Com was accompanied by ADC,  Jammu,  Rishpal Singh, Director Rural Development, Sudarshan Kumar, ACD Aijaz Qaiser, Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North, Satish Sharma, State Director KVIC, Block Development Officer, Tehsildar besides Engineers of PWD,  PHE,  PDD,  I&FC, senior functionaries of SWD, Handloom, Handicraft, Agriculture, Health, Education and other block level officers. The Gram Sabha was attended by large number of people including PRIs and locals of Panchayat Jandial Lower, Jandial upper, Ghrota, Keran, Kheri, Mathwar and other adjoining Panchayats.The PRIs apprised the Div Com that they are facing hardships due to lack of adequate staff in health centres and schools besides  poor power and water supply. They also informed that liabilities of MGNREGA, irregularities in old age and widow pension disbursement. They also submitted memorandum of demands to the Div Com.The Sarpanchs of the area sought better road connectivity, renovation of school buildings, adequate health facilities,  up gradation of PHE and PDD infrastructure, play ground, adequate staff in schools and related issues concerning their respective areas.

The Div Com issued on spot directions to the concerned departments for looking into all the issues raised by the public for an early redressal.The officers informed that most of the development works have already been approved under languishing projects while some of the works have been added in the ‘Back to Village’ work plan.The Div Com assured the PRIs that all their genuine issues would be taken into consideration for solution.Meanwhile, the Div Com reviewed implementation of various government schemes like PMKSN, AYUSHMAN Bharat, Ujjwala Yojna and related programmes.The Div Com asked the Handloom and Handicraft departments to establish craft centres and bag making units for women of the area to provide them employment opportunities.He asked the KVIC and different departments to hold special camps for creating awareness among the people about various government schemes so that eligible can avail the benefit.The Div Com also asked the concerned for maintenance of existing water bodies and urged people for plantation around water bodies. He further asked the Agriculture department to develop Vermi-compost units in the area.Earlier, the Div Com inspected ongoing works on construction of old age home at Kot Bhalwal. Director Social Welfare, who was also present there, apprised the Div Com of work progress on the project besides elaborating on the future plan.
