Continuing the efforts towards curbing drug abuse, District Administration Hoshiarpur today announced 11 more villages of Sub Division Dasuya (06) and Hoshiarpur (05) drug free in the ongoing anti-drug campaign. In the recent past 09 villages were declared drug free in Garhshankar and Mukerian Sub Division. The administration after following all the guidelines on the subject has identified these villages. Strict parameters have been laid for the purpose by the Government which include reporting and recommendations of Nasha Rolu Nigraan Committee, DAPOs, Master trainers, Guardians of Governance, Police department, health department, antinarcotics wing. On getting has taken up stringent parameters confirming to whom the villages have been declared drug free and holding open session of all residents is one of them besides multi-level independent verification of the village being drug free.Addressing the gathering here at Distrcit Administrative Complex, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Isha Kalia, IAS gave details while announcing the second list of drug-free villages declared of the district. She further said that the list of the villages which have potential to be declared as Drug Free village was received from the STF (State Task Force) on which the administration has acted upon and taken steps to ensure that the needful is done. This is a continuous process in which the efforts are on to make Hoshiarpur District as Drug free District.

 Sub Divisional Mission Teams headed by SDM concerned works on the villages and as and when SDMT finds that the villages are fit for declaring to be drug free recommend it to the District Mission Team headed by Deputy Commissioner. DMT on being satisfied declares the villages as Drug free villages. are ascertain the drug free status of the villages and in many of the villages this was still on and the work  was on for it.The villages that have qualified to attain the drug-free status in the second round are Uddra, Makkowal Chadhdi Patti, Chandidas, Chak Noor Ali, Khangwari and Bhanbhowaal of Dasuya sub-division and  Nara, Tharoli, Sajjan, Akhlaspur and Brahmjeet in Hoshiarpur sub-division. Giving details of the anti-drug campaign being run in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that all stakeholders like GoGs, DAPOs, cluster coordinators, MTs, Nasha Roku Nigran Committees and buddy groups would be pushing up the campaign and in coming days more villages would be added in the list of Drug Free Villages in the District. To boost the morale of key players in the anti-drug campaign, the best performers among officials, DAPOs and GoGs, village Sarpanchs and Panchayats would be felicitated on Republic Day. On the occasion, SSP Mr. Gaurav Garg, ADC Mr. Harpreet Singh Sudan, SDM Dasuya Mrs. Jyoti Bala, SDM Hoshiarpur Mr. Amit Sareen, Assistant Commissioner(G)  Dr. Amit Mahajan, Head GOG Mr. Manohar Singh were also present.
