District Administration Kathua today discussed plastic disposal plan with the industrialists here at a meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer.The meeting discussed in detail the procedure for collection, segregation of the plastic waste and its transportation to industries for recycling/disposal.The meeting was attended by Industrialists/Brick Kiln owners/Hot Mix Plant owners and Scrap dealers to formulate a plan through which plastic waste can be collected, segregated and recycled efficiently. The Association of Brick Kiln owners assured that they will consume 20 Quintals of plastic, while NHAI informed that they will use 6 tons of plastic under SHS campaign.The DDC directed the Engineers to study the model for usage of plastic in Hot Mix Plants. BDOs were directed to identify the routes for establishing points for collection of plastic waste.It was informed that NHAI, PWD and PMGSY will jointly work for collection and recycling of plastic waste.The DC asked the industrialists to install Compactor units in cluster villages under CSR - the list of which will be provided to the association soon.Installation of Reverse Vending Machines in offices, Railway Station and other important locations and color coated dustbins can were also discussed.The DDC suggested for creating a common corpus under CSR for cleanliness in the Industrial estates which was hailed by the Industrialists as welcome step. and agreed to constitute a committee headed by GM DIC. Earlier, DC also launched Swachhata Hi Seva campaign at Bakhta village of Kathua.
