Additional Director General of Police Armed S.J.M Gillani today visited various areas of Anantnag district to take stock of welfare and functioning of the manpower of three Armed/IR battalions besides assessing law & order situation of the area and security of the unit premises.During the visit, ADGP conducted joint darbar of officers and Jawans of IRP-10th, 11th & 17th Bns at Armed Police Complex Mattan in District Anantnag.During the Darbar, the officers and Jawans put forth their personal as well as collective problems to which ADGP issued on spot directions to concerned Commandant for redressal of their genuine grievances.Regarding the transfers on medical as well as humanitarian grounds put forth by Jawans, ADGP assured them that their problems will be addressed on merit basis.ADGP also directed the Commandants of their respective units to conduct fortnightly Darbar of Jawans and address their issues on priority.The ADGP further directed the Commandants that good quality food should be provided to the Jawans. ADGP also paid visits to the battalion headquarters of all the three units located at APC Kheribal Mattan and DPL Anantnag and conducted inspection of mess facilities, equipment stores, clothing, canteens, ration among other things.

The ADGP also advised the officers to ensure regular fitness exercises of Jawans by ensuring daily physical training & Games etc.He advised the Commandants to exercise close and effective supervision on the unit personnel to avoid any untoward incidents especially the Jawans who are deputed as PSOs to different Protected Persons (PPs) and Static Guards at different locations.The ADGP also briefed the Commandants about some significant security related issues to be taken care of in their respective jurisdiction and areas of deployment.The Commandants IRP-10th, 11th & 17th Bns. SSP Fayaz Ahmad Lone, SSP Altaf Hussain and SSP Benam Tosh respectively also briefed the ADGP about the functioning of their units and welfare activities taken by them for the unit personnel.While addressing the durbar, the ADGP Armed stressed upon the officers for ensuing conducive atmosphere in the area by initiating various public friendly programmes and maintaining the sanctity of the public service. The officer impressed upon the participants that their primary role is to ensure safety and security of self as well as public life and their property.SSP Anantnag Altaf Khan, GOs of the units and officers of Territorial Police were also present during the Darbar.
