Department of Excise and Taxation, Punjab on the directions of The Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Punjab Vivek Partap Singh, has busted a big GST bogus billing scam involving Rs. 60 crore.In this case it has been detected that Sh. SubhashChander, Proprietor of M/s Ganpati Motor Store located in Khanauri Mandi engaged in the business of Iron and Scrap is involved in unscrupulous business activities. After following due process of law and conducting detailed enquires, the accused Subhash Chander has been arrested.Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner-cum- Director Investigation, Punjab Mrs. Navdeep Kaur Bhinder informed about the brief facts of the case during a press conference held at her office, that the owner of the firm used to procure fake GST invoices of Iron and Scrap from Delhi without physical delivery of goods. It has also been detected that some of the vehicles used in the transportation of goods were found to be Scooters and Motor Cycles. A total of 945 vehicles were shown to have transported Iron and Scrap goods from Delhi to Khanauri Mandi whereas after verification it was found that only 67 vehicles were shown to have passed through Era Engineering Pvt.Ltd.,Toll Plaza, Rohtak, Haryana (Project Office: West Haryana Highways Projects Pvt. Ltd., Rohad Toll Plaza (KM. 52+480), NH-09, Tehsil Bahadurgarh, Distt. Jhajjar, Haryana).

Mrs. Bhinder said that Verification of these 67 vehicles conducted by Major Manmohan Singh, STO has further revealed that these vehicles had actually not passed through the toll plaza and only fake toll plaza receipts had been generated. This fact has been confirmed by Toll Plaza authorities. In this case the accused was creating bogus Input Tax Credit running into crores of rupees and was further passing on to various dealers of Punjab.Smt. Navdeep Kaur Bhinder, Additional Commissioner-cum-Director Investigation, Punjab conveyed that all such dealers indulging in bogus billing shall be dealt with sternly.Further investigation in the case is under progress to identify other unscrupulous people involved in the scam.It will be an ongoing process and the department envisages to launch a strict campaign against dealers/traders involved in cases of huge tax evasion, she added. DETC GST Mr. Darbara Singh, AETC Mobile wing Mr. Vishavdeep Singh Bhangu, STO Major Manmohan Singh, Anita Sodhi, Inspector Piyush Singla, Satpal Singh were also present on the occasion.
