International Finance Corporation invited to fund various projects in Himachal

The state government has urged the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a wing of the World Bank to finance various projects in the state especially in the sectors like tourism, hydro power and affordable housing etc.The senior officers of the state government in presence of Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Shrikant Baldi held discussions with the delegation of the IFC at New Delhi on Friday to explore the possibilities of financing various projects in Himachal Pradesh.Dr. Baldi apprised the IFC representatives that the state has developed land bank and suitable land is available for setting up various kinds of industries. He said that the state would like the IFC to invest in the focus sectors like affordable housing projects for which adequate land is available at various places with the HIMUDA. Similarly, there is vast scope of investment in tourism sector for developing resorts and skiing sites. He said that the state government has proposed an ambitious project at Chanshal in Shimla district for skiing and this area has great scope for tourism activities.He said that Himachal Pradesh has vast potential of harnessing hydro power as well and the IFC should consider to fund the hydro power projects in the state.Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar, Principal Resident Commissioner Sanjay Kundu and Deputy Resident Commissioner Vivek Mahajan were also present on the occasion.The representative of IFC including Vikram Singh, Neeraj Gupta and Pratibha Bajaj held discussion with the officers of the state government.The IFC representatives assured that they would participate in the road show being organised by the Himachal Government prior to the Global Investors Meet at Chandigarh. Besides the IFC would also participate in the investors meet being held at Dharamshala in the month of November, this year.
