Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Kulwant Singh today underscored the need for comprehensive development of students of government schools through quality and value based education.Presiding over a meeting to review the developments undertaken under Samagra Education Scheme, the Deputy Commissioner said that education was a powerful weapon for transforming the lives of the students. He said that it must be well utilized for holistic and inclusive development of the students studying in the government schools. Mr. Kulwant Singh said that this would enable the students studying in the government schools to compete with their peers cross the globe.Deputy Commissioner said that education department must lay thrust on ensuring holistic development of the students in the district. He said that the main aim of the education must be to ensure that the child must be groomed as a good citizen of the country thereby contributing immensely in its social-economic growth. Mr. Kulwant Singh said that concerted efforts must be made for ensuring that students excel in their life through education.The Deputy Commissioner also asked the department to make wholehearted efforts for ensuring access of quality education to the students of weaker and underprivileged sections of society. He also asked the department to ensure nutritious and quality food to the students under the mid day meal scheme. Mr. Kulwant Singh said that the quality of food served under the scheme must be regularly monitored so that hygienic food was served to the students. He also asked the department to make futuristic planning well in advance so that it could be implemented for betterment of students.On the occasion, Deputy District Education Officers Ms. Gurpreet Kaur and Mr. Anil Awasthi along with other officers were present.
