The Local Bodies department has in principal decided to put a cap on the fee charged by the architectures for drawing up a building plan. This move is aimed at providing monetary relief to the citizen of the state as they have been complaining that they have to pay a huge amount to the architect for uploading the drawing of building plans online. It was disclosed by Mr. Brahm Mohindra, Local Bodies Minister after holding a high level meeting to review progress on the project of e-Naksha.In a press communiqué released Mr. Brahm Mohindra said that the motive of the launch of e-Naksha plan was to enhance government capacity and strengthen institutional capacity to deliver sustainable access to effective services for the urban poor. He said that e-naksha plan was launched on January 15, 2019 and with this automate building plan approval process was started in 165 ULBs and 27 Improvement Trust and it provided one-stop platform for all architects/citizen to submit drawings/documents for building plan approval process.  He said that total number of 13500 cases have been successfully entered in online system and more than 7700 plans are cleared.

The Minister said that though this project was running very successfully but there were certain objections raised by the citizens. He said that the major objection of the citizen was that the architects were demanding huge fees for drawing up their building plan. He said taking strong cognizance of the concerns of the citizens the Local Bodies Department has decided to put a cap on the fee charged by the architects for preparing the building plan. Mr. Brahm Mohindra instructed Mr. A. Venu Prasad, Principal Secretary of the Local Bodies Department to prepare the rational of fee structure, making base for an architect to charge fee from the citizen for drawing up building plan.The Minister also instructed the officers to take feedback and suggestions from the general public on the e-naksha project so that the online process of passing of building plan can further be streamlined to the satisfaction of the citizen of the state.Prominent who were present in the meeting included Mr. A. Venu Prasad, Principal Secretary, Mr. D.S. Mangat, Director Local Bodies Department, DDR Patiala Paramjeet Singh, STP Kamalpreet Kaur, TP from Head Office Manav Jain, other STPs & MTPs and officers from various Municipal Corporations.
