With an aim to ensure availability of clean drinking water to all citizens, the Punjab State Food Commission on Friday directed the authorities to conduct regular audit of water quality to check contamination.The orders to this effect were issued by the Chairman Punjab Food Commission D P Reddy after chairing the review meeting here. Principal Secretary Social Security, Women & Child Development, and representatives of Health & Family Welfare Departments were also present.Underlining the importance of regular checking of drinking water, D P Reddy said that many diseases are borne from contaminated water from which prevention is must. He also asked the department to get audit of government-run programmes from independent agencies.During the meeting, Reddy also disclosed that names of two best department employees putting in exemplary work under the National Food Security Act would be recommended every year by the Commission for honours on January 26 and August 15.
