MLA from Jalandhar Central assembly segment  Rajinder Beri today said that in order to commemorate 550th parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji 11000 saplings would be planted at vacant places in constituency.Initiating the plantation drive here from Ladowali road, the MLA said that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has started a drive to plant saplings at vacant places as a humble but befitting tribute to Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. He said that under this drive 11000 saplings were being planted in the Jalandhar central assembly segment. Mr. Beri said that vacant places for the plantation have been identified and the plantation has been started.The MLA further said that the plantation drive was a humble tribute to Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji who’s teachings showed us way to preserve the environment. He said that the plants would be distributed to every ward and mohalla for ensuring its proper plantation and subsequently its maintenance. 

Rajinder Beri said that the drive would help in enhancing the green cover on one hand and reducing environmental pollution on the other.The MLA said that major focus was being laid on planting traditional varieties of plant which were best suited for the environment of the state. Exhorting the residents of district to play a pivotal role for making it a clean, green and pollution free district, he said that such plantation drives were all the more important as the depleting green cover was a cause of concern for everybody as it poses  a serious hazard to the environment and human health. Mr. Beri said that it was bounden duty of every individual to come forward and plant more and more number of trees to provide ‘green lungs’ to our district. Soliciting fulsome support of people in this noble cause, he called upon them plant and upkeep atleast sapling for the sake of our coming generations.On the occasion Congress leaders Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Mr. Jagdish Singh Jeeta, Mr. Jaswinder Singh Paali, Mr. Jaswinder Singh Billa and others were also present.
