Medical Education Minister Punjab Mr OP Soni today directed the civil, Police and Municipal Administration to formulate an effective and result oriented strategy for solving the traffic problem in the city.Chairing a meeting of the newly constituted District Grievances Committee here today at the conference room of District Administrative Complex, the Minister said that every effort must be made to ensure that traffic woes in the city were minimised to facilitate the people. He said that the Police, civil and Municipal Administration must formulate a comprehensive action plan to combat this problem. Mr Soni said that it was need of the hour to ensure that people do not face any sort of problem while commuting in the city.The Minister also asked the power department to ensure regular and uninterrupted power supply to the farmers during the ongoing paddy season. He also asked the Additional Deputy Commissioner to ensure that the ongoing work on widening of Jalandhar Hoshiarpur road was expedited. Mr Soni also asked the officers to ensure that the works of public welfare were implemented in the right earnest. The Minister also asked the district administration to ensure proper basic civic amenities at the driving track to facilitate the people visiting the place. He also announced a grant if Rs 5 lakh for upgradation of basic infrastructure at the track. Mr Soni also asked the PWD department to expedite work on construction of Lamma Pind-Jandu Singhan road and Phillaur to Nakodar and Nakodar Kala Sanghian road.

The Minister also asked the Health department to start operationalise the three newly constructed Community Health Centres to facilitate people. He also asked the Punjab Pollution Control Board, Municipal Corporation and Police to ensure complete ban on plastic bags which were posing serious environmental hazard.MLAs Mr Pargat Singh, Mr Rajinder Beri, Mr Hardev Singh Laddi, Mr Avtar Singh Bawa Henry and Mr Pawan Kumar Teenu, Mayor Mr Jagdish Raj Raja, former district President of Congress Mr Daljeet Singh Ahluwalia were also present in the meeting.Earlier Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr Diperva Lakra, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh- who was officiating as Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent Of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh and Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Gurmeet Singh besides others welcomed the Minister.On the occasion Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr Amit Kumar, Ms Charumita, Ms Shayari Malhotra and Mr Amanpreet Kaur, District Program Officer Mr Amarjeet Singh Bhullar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Mr Sukhjinder Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Kaur Chawla, District Immunisation Officer Dr Tarsem Lal, General Manager Roadways Mr GS Minhas, DIstrict Food and Supply Controller Mr Narinder Singh, District Education Officers Mr Harinder Pal Singh and Mr Ram Pal Saini besides others were also present.
