Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur met Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar at New Delhi on Saturday.The Chief Minister congratulated him on assuming the charge of the Ministry. He also discussed various issues pertaining to the state.Jai Ram Thakur requested him for making provision for some funds for maintenance of roads connecting hamlet's and internal connectivity within the villages as it is very difficult for panchayats to maintain them. He said that being a hilly state roads are the lifeline and primary mode of connectivity in HP. He said that internal connectivity within villages is also very important for transportation of agriculture produce etc and centre government should provide some funds for their maintenance as well. He further said that funds being provided for maintenance of roads constructed under PMGSY were very meagre and should be increased to ensure better maintenance of these roads.The Union Minister assured to consider the demands and thanked the Chief Minister for the good wishes.Chief Secretary B K Agarwal was also present on this occasion.
