PPCC president and Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Gurdaspur Sunil  Jakhar today slammed BJP-led union government for step motherly treatment to Punjab. He said that no major project was allotted to Punjab by Narendra Modi led government in past five years; the NDA government gave step-motherly treatment to the state. The muteness of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) over such victimization reflects their greed to secure a cabinet berth at centre for Badal family. While addressing an election rally at village Dharamkot Randhawa, Mr. Jakhar said that during the Modi regime, the country had gone backward in each and every sector; NDA government did nothing for poor people nor provided any assistance to farming community that were under severe stress. Modi Government was engaged to fulfill the interests of only few giant industrialists. In the implementation of a faulty GST by BJP Government small traders of country suffered a lot, he added. Describing the 10-year SAD-BJP rule in Punjab a worst era in the state Jakhar said that during SAD-BJP misrule, the industry shifted to other states, growth of agriculture sector depleted and youth succumbed to harmful drugs. Incidents of sacrileges of holy books happened during the tenure of so called panthic government and if the former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal really realized the mistakes made in his tenure, he should have apologized much earlier but SAD patriarch did not so and now when his party is facing the heat of election he talks about apology for misdeeds of his government.

Mr. Jakhar said that Congress has fulfilled the promises the party made and will continue to do so. Congress government in Punjab has waived off the loans of farmers up to Rs 2 lakh, whereas loan up to Rs 50 thousand were also waived off of the farm workers and landless farmers. "Apart from this, I did hard work to establish a Pepsi factory at Pathankot with the investment of Rs 1200 crores, 3 new colleges, 2 medical colleges and capacity enhancement of 2 sugar mills in the constituency during my term of only 16 months," he added. He further reiterated that inviting his opponent candidate for discussion on the key issues of Gurdaspur should not be considered as a personal attack on any one. “People want such MP, who can raise their voice in the parliament, not like that who reads the script written by others. On the occasion Cabinet Minister Mr. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that Congress always cares the poor people under its policies. If Congress is voted to power at centre, it will give financial help of Rs 6000 to every poor family of the country. PM Modi had no concern with Punjab and his government did not give any help to state. He challenged those who were writing scripts for BJP candidate to write one more script mentioning the contribution of BJP government for Punjab during last five years. District Congress President Mr. Roshan Joseph was also present besides other party cadre.
