Inflammatory speeches made by BJP cadres/their allies & arrogance reflect the party's true character and will lead BJP to the woods said Vijay Inder Singla today. He stated that the basic philosophies of the two parties i.e. Akali Dal & BJP are in contrast to each other on many issues like inter linking of rivers and Punjab has only witnessed a downslide during the rule of this unholy alliance in the State in the last 7 years and it is time for the people to vote them out.
Singla stated that ‘intention and perception’ is what matters and on both these accounts the Akali – BJP Govt. has failed to protect the rights of people with their mafia style of governance. No wonder Akalis who have nothing to showcase are seeking a trust vote on Modi’s name whose credentials on taking the entire country along are themselves suspect.
Responding to the observations made by ex DGP Shashi Kant revealing names of political representatives involved in drug trafficking he said that what is required is not sensationalizing the drug issue and getting a political mileage but developing a concrete action Plan to tackle this menace on which nothing is forthcoming from the Akalis or BJP. Singla stated that a dedicated Fund needs to be set up to up-scale drug awareness campaigns and drug de-addiction activities on the ‘demand’ side and a new institutional system should be developed which will function directly under the Prime Minister to tackle the ‘supply’ side of drug trafficking. We need to declare a ‘War on Drugs’ if Punjab and India has to survive said Singla.
