In a unique initiative aimed at ensuring proper upkeep of the newly planted 250 saplings in District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today said said that the administration would rechristen the plants on the name of the employees who would adopt them.Presiding over a meeting here at the District Administrative complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that the administration has decided to plants 250 saplings in the entire complex to provide green lungs in it. He said that during the plantation drive trees of species like Amaltas, Amla, Arjun, Bahera, Sirs, Bohar, Imli, Jaman, Kachnaar, Neem, Shisham, Sukhchain and others were being planted in the complex.  Mr. Sharma said that the employees of the administration would adopt one tree each and ensure its proper growth.The Deputy Commissioner said that the main aim was to make employees of the DAC an active partner of this campaign for planting more and more number of trees. He said that the trees would be named after the employee who would adopt it thereby ensuring emotional binding between the employee and the tree. 

Varinder Kumar Sharma said that it was need of the hour to make the complex clean, green and pollution free thereby checking the environmental pollution in the state.The Deputy Commissioner also constituted a high level Committee comprising Colonel (Retd.) Balbir Singh, Superintendents Mr. Rajinder Sharma and Mrs. Parminder Kaur, Senior Assistant Mr. Jagdish Saluja, Steno Mrs. Sukhwinder Kaur and Junior Assistants Mr. Tajinder Singh and Mrs. Sandeep Kaur for effective monitoring of the entire campaign. Mr. Sharma said that under this drive 250 plants were being planted in the complex adding that these plants have been given by Sant Baba Sewa singh kar Sewa Wale from Khadoor Sahib. He said that the tree guards for protecting these trees have been given by Dr. GS Pruthi, a renowned personality of medical field. Mr. Sharma further said that the plantation drive was being held under the supervision of Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Paramvir Singh and Horticulture expert Dr. Jaswinder Singh Bilga.On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr. Kulwant Singh and Mr. Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Paramvir Singh and Mr. Sanjiv Sharma besides others.
