The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Police Commissioner Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar on Tuesday inspected the proposed counting centres for ensuing general elections in the district.The Deputy Commissioner and Police Commissioner, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mr PBS Parmar visited these proposed counting centres at Government Senior Secondary School, Guru Nanak Dev University College, Ladowali road, Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women and the Office of the Director Land Records in the district.During the inspection, they said that foolproof security arrangements would be made by the district administration at these places during the polling process and all these centres would be set up as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.Reiterating the firm commitment of the district administration to ensure free and fair general elections, Mr Sharma and Mr Bhullar inspected the arrangements at these places and gave necessary directions to the officers. They said that no stone would be left unturned for ensuring that the polls were held in the peaceful and transparent manner and that elaborate arrangement would be made to ensure that the polls were conducted in a free and fair manner.They stated that these safeguards would be implemented by district administration transparently with the active and documented involvement of political parties, candidates and their representatives at every stage to build their confidence on efficacy and reliability in the electoral process.On the occasion, Sub Divisional Magistrate-II Mr Paramvir Singh, Secretary Regional Transport Authority Ms Nayyan Jassal, Additional Chief Administrator PUDA Mr Kanwaljeet Singh and others were also present.
