The chairman of the one-man commission constituted by then SAD-BJP government in Punjab, Justice Zora Singh held a press conference in Chandigarh here on Wednesday said that it was painful that the commission constituted by the government to bring those responsible for the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari and firing incident at Behbal Kalan in which two persons were killed was not public, to justice. He said like the erstwhile SAD-BJP government, the Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who had publicly taken a solemn vow invoking ‘Sri Gutka Sahib’ to bring those responsible for the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib of and firing at Bargadi in which two persons to justice even, failed to act swiftly fast to nail them, even after the lapse of 665 days in power since the announcement. Those who attended the press conference included MLA, Kultar Simgh Randhawa, Party’s Lok Sabha candidates from Amritsar and Sri Anandpur Sahib, Kuldip Singh Dhaliwal and Narinder Singh, respectively Shergill, party spokemen Jastez Arora and others.Justice Zora Singh said that he had taken the challenging task of high profile case at a very crucial time and he had performed his duties with utmost uprightness, commitment and impartiality and handed over the report to the government for further action. Had the government in the saddle been a little sensitized and serious about the facts and findings of the report into consideration, those responsible for the sacrilegious acts would have been behind the bars.He allegedly that the Captain was responsible for offering a protective cover to the culprit in spite of the fact he had taken a solemn vow in the divine presence of Sri Gutka Sahib. He added that Captain Amarinder Singh had no moral right to be in the august chair and said he should tender his resignation and seek apology from Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the entire Sikh community.

Justice Zora Singh said that on the basis of the evidences collected through intensive investigation of persons who appeared before the commission, six suspects identified included Rajwinder Singh, Subedar Gurjant Singh, Hardev Singh, Gora Singh, besides a tailor master. He alleged that the names of the suspects were already in the police domain but they did not seem to be in a hurry to investigate the case, he further said. This came to light during the investigation by the Justice Zora Singh commission. The report of finings submitted to the government by the commission had found them guilty of desecration of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He said the Parkash Singh Badal government in cahoots with the police did not want the accused must be brought to book and protected them.He said that it even more painful that the Captain too did not take the commission report seriously and delayed stringent action against those behind the acts of crime and sacrilege. “Being an upright Judge and astute ‘guru ka Sikh’ I feel deeply hurt at the turn of events as to how and why no action was initiated against the culprits by those in power”, he said in a statement.Jutice Zora Singh further added that during the investigations, it came to the notice that even as the sketches of the Granthis and other sewadar of the gurudwara, were not released to the media for reasons better known to them. This all reveals that the captain government was willfully trying to delay and derail the process of delivery of justice to bring the culprits to book, he said. He said the government cannot absolve itself from the denial of justice.Justice Zora Singh further said that on the basis of the investigation it came to light that the investigating officers, including an SSP and a DSP rank officer deported before the commission that the investigation into the Bargari and Bavel Kalan cases was not done as per the merit of the incidents.
