District Development Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat today reviewed the pace of progress on prestigious National Highway four laning work here at a meeting of officers of district administration, representatives of National Highway Authority of India and construction agencies.The DDC, while taking stock of issues hampering smooth execution of work on the project, suggested several measures for resolving the same.The meeting was attended by ADDC Nawab Din, ADC, Dr. Basharat Hussain, PD NHAI Jammu Ajak Kumar, ACR, Harbans Sharma, CPO, Uttam Singh, SDM Banihal, Zameer Rishu, executive Engineers of PDD, PWD, PHE and PMGSY besides representatives of the companies of HCC, GAMMON India, NHAI and other concerned officers.Highlighting the importance of prestigious four lane work, the DDC assured the executing companies of removing all bottlenecks hampering the work on National Highway and other national projects. 

He reviewed in detail the issues projected by the companies and passed directions to the concerned for timely action.The DDC directed the company representatives to deploy additional men and machinery at all vulnerable locations and construct crash barriers, protection walls, drainage to facilitate the free flow of traffic.Earlier, the DDC inspected various work sites along the widening project including the under-construction four lane bridge Ramban and Karol and progress in the implementation of road maintenance action plan for avoiding inconvenience to commuters especially during rains and snowfall.The DDC directed the HCC and GAMMON for properly maintaining the highway besides taking due care of quality of the material used in repair works. He further directed the concerned agencies to expedite the work for timely completion.
