Secretary Agriculture flags-off farmers’ tour

Secretary Agriculture Production Department, Dr Manzoor Ahmed Lone today flagged-off a group of 100 progressive farmers for one day training   to Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture, Science and Technology (SKUAST), Chattha.The Camp was organized by the State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans in collaboration with Directorate of Extension Education SKUAST (J). The aim of the Camp was to impart training and create awareness among the farmers about the latest techniques of farming.Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary expressed hope that the framers will take keen interest in getting training of modern techniques of farming and share the knowledge with other farmers of their respective areas. He asked the concerned authorities to hold such awareness camps across the State to enable maximum number of farmers to avail benefits of training and skill up-gradation.For economic uplift of the farmers, Dr Lone stressed upon the department to come up with a calendar of farmers’ tour to outside the State. He said it will enable the farmers to market their produce and learn about the modern techniques of the farming.  He said there is a need to   encourage them to constitute ‘farmer produce organizations’ for joint sale of their crops and fetch good prices.Secretary of the Board, Abdul Hamid Wani highlighted the achievements of the Board and importance of such exposure programmes. He said the farmers of the state need to be equipped with latest agriculture research aimed at to bring out the best field practices.Among others, the programme was attended by Director Agriculture Jammu H.K Razdan, Director Command area Jatinder Singh, Joint Director Agriculture Kulbushan Samyal, Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu N.K Mishra, members of Board and farmers.
