Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched the Himachal edition of Janta TV, a Hindi news channel during a function organised here on Wednesday evening.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the press is the fourth pillar of the democracy and government is committed to provide all assistance to make media more stronger. Today, the importance of media has gone up as it takes up all social issues and also rectifies the government on various important issues.The Chief Minister said that state government is committed to take Himachal Pradesh on new heights of development and expressed hope that the channel would highlight the welfare policies and achievements of the government. He also expressed hope that channels working in the state would provide platform to take up various issues of major concern of the state at national level.

He gave his good wishes to the Janta channel for its future endeavours.Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and State Congress President Sukhwinder Singh Thakur also spoke on the occasion.In his welcome address, Chief Editor Dr. Himanshu Dwivedi said that the Janta news channel would take up all important issues of the state with honesty and transparency.Chairman, HP State Cooperative Bank Khushi Ram Balnatah, Mayor Kusum Sadrate, Media Advisor to the Governor Shashikant Sharma, Media Advisor to the CM Rohit Sawal, Director I&PR Harbans Singh Brascon were also present in the function. CEO of the channel Deepak Arora presented the vote of thanks.
