600 Farmers Taken For Exposure Visit To Cii Agro-Tech

The department of agriculture and farmers’ welfare on Sunday has organized an expose visit for as many as 600 farmers from district and took them to CII Agro Tech India-2018 in Chandigarh.Divulging the details, Agriculture Officer Dr Naresh Gulati said that the visit has been organized for acquainting the farmers with modern techniques in the agriculture, crop residue management, organic farming and cultivation of different agricultural crops with new equipments like happy seeder, rotavator, Mulcher and Zero till drill for managing the straws.Mr Gulati disclosed that this year, the motive of the agro-tech is to educate the farmers about minimizing the cost of cultivation by reducing the use of pesticides on the crops as excessive use increases the cost of the cultivation but also pollutes the environment.He added that the farmers interacted with the farm scientists and experts to get up to date methodology in the cultivation of crops on scientific lines in the fair.He told that on the orders of Punjab government,  a drive was also started to appeal the farmers for not to use excessive pesticides.Moreover, he informed that the injudicious use of pesticides leads to soil pollution which ultimately adversely affects humans.
