The families of two Kashmiri students who have been arrested by Punjab Police in connection with Jalandhar's Maqsudan police station grenade blast Wednesday said that they have been implicated in a false case while the truth is that both the students were regularly attending their college in Jalandhar Punjab. Two days back, the Punjab Police claimed that they solved Jalandhar's Maqsudan police station hand grenade blasts case of September 14 with the arrest of two Kashmiri College students allegedly associated with Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The Punjab police identified the two students as Fazil Bashir and Shahid Qayoom, both residents of Tral town of South Kashmir.Shahid (22) the son of a policeman and Fazil (23) the son of a government employee were studying B.Tech (7th semester) at ST Soldiers College of Engineering and Technology at Jalandhar Punjab. The families of both the students told news agency CNS that college records of Shahid and Fazil prove that they were regular students who never missed any class in four years. “How come they turn out to be militants when they were regularly attending the classes and have no previous such record that could establish their role in any militancy related incident,” they said. “Our innocent sons have been booked under section 307, 427, 120B of Indian Penal Code and 3, 4, 5 of Explosives Act. We appeal Kashmir Bar Association to take up the cases of these two students and ensure their release. Their career has come to an end and now we want their safe return,” they said.“Not a single FIR stands registered against the duo in any police station of Jammu and Kashmir. Punjab Police have made them scapegoats and arrested them only because they hail from Kashmir,” they said. (CNS)
